A beautifully bred son of Forty Niner and the Alabama Stakes-Gr.1 winning Dance Spell mare Broom Dance, Tailings is a full brother to the highly successful stallion End Sweep. The sire of 36 stakes winners, End Sweep - who died in 2002 - boasted an extremely high winners to runners strike rate in excess of 77%.
Tailings entered stud in 2000 and his 2003-08 progeny has grossed $117,750 at Autumn Yearling Sales with an average price of $7,850. (see sales history)
From 2005 - 2010 Tailings has sired 29 foals.
Tailings added a black-type success in 2006 when his daughter Darcenell (Tailings-Repatriation, by Proven Valour) won the $150,000 listed Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) for 3YO fillies in Launceston. She also won the TRC Strutt Stakes (2100m) as a 3 year old. The 2005 TTC Gold Sovereign Stakes (1200m) and the TRC Cascade Classic (1400m) were her successes as a 2 year old.
